I just uploaded some files and the identifier assignment doesn't seem to want to finish, surely due to something I did wrong.
Is there any way I can delete anything pending and just start from scratch?
Here's the page I'm stuck at: https://archive.org/create.php?lma=1
Please understand there will still be a lag between when they appear in the "Most Recent Band Activations" and when they will be fully available in the rest of archive.org, esp. the drop down list when checking in a recording. The most recent band activations page is almost real time, but for the rest of archive.org it takes from a few hours up to a full day for the new band to populate around.
Hey Clinton - Generally, within a week or so, but there is only one in the queue right now and it will get set up today and then take another 12-24 hours until it is available in the drop down list of artists. Feel free to email us at etree at archive.org if you have any questions.
I have just helped a band give permission to be on LMA. It's been a long time since I've done that. I forget how long it takes to kick in and where I can monitor the newly added artists. Any info? Thanks!
Please remove these two uploads:
No offense to the up loader I want to upload recordings I have made and shared else where myself, I will upload the 16 bits and 24 bits when I am ready to.
Sorry I didn't search this first but, I downloaded two of the fare thee well shows, and I thought they were 23 separate files. I managed to get them to my Walkman mP3 device, but in one file. Which would be fine but all the individual tracks were out of sequence.
What do I do to get them in order?
Sorry but I grew up in the 80's.
> so, you'll now notice at the top of the collection page three browse links just under "Live Music Archive",

Can we have a "most downloaded this week|month|year"?
Please correct if possible. Other corrections were made(an extra zero was the issue)
current identifier reads as follows :
The correct identifier should read as :
Difference is 10 and should be 16.
Here is the link to the upload.
Tennessee Jed, 10-20-74. Rarely mentioned by anybody. The solo is letter-perfect.
Hard to Handle, 08-06-71. Mentioned by everybody, and justifiably so.
China/Rider jam, 12-29-77. He sounds like the Ellington Orchestra all by himself. Astoundingly good.
In both those cases, the information displayed on the page is precisely as it was entered in the "description" box when the show information was entered by you (the uploader). You can edit the information by clicking on Edit on the left side under the microphone and then clicking on "Change the information". Hope that helps.
ok thanks. maybe I put it in both description and notes. I will watch for that. But yes it did it not happen on this last one, but these are twp where it did happen
The only information that is displayed is the information you type (or paste) into the "description" and "notes" fields. The text in the included text file is not automatically included. I did not see the duplicated set list on the upload I just removed, so if you have another example, I'd be happy to look.
I'm sorry, made a mistake and songs are out of order, could you please remove this... https://archive.org/details/GY2015-07-11
Also, I had a question... when I have uploaded a show it has the set list displayed twice. I include a text file with the set list with the upload and then also put it in the notes section of the online page I fill information in when submitting...should I not be doing of those things? Thanks for all your help

If he's good enough for you, he's good enough for me Mr. Wevorado. While you're at it, e-mail me a few more of your favorites on this site. Johncord70@gmail.com Thanks bud! I hope all is well. Nothing beats doing a Google search and seeing your name pop up in a chat forum!
Thanks for the heads up. Very new here :)
Is there something I need to do to finish the task, or is it backend? Just want to make sure I'm not stopping something since it seemed to upload the files really fast, comparatively.
looks like a derive task was started 20 hours ago because you uploaded files. it's not done. the checkin from earlier today is queued to start when the derive is done.
fwiw, that is not a collection, it is what we call an item. collections are groups of items organized under a single page.
So what was the fix? I'm having the same issue on my collection: https://archive.org/details/theshaftpodcast
when I got to edit, it says files are there.. all 216, but they don't show up for me at the above link. Was that what you were experiencing?
Only the etree (Live Music Archive) collection requires lossless file formats. it is a legacy from their origin as an audiophile's place for live concert recordings. the rest of archive.org does not have that requirement although we do suggest that you upload the highest quality source files possible.
Hope that helps.
Is the Internet Archive certain this "only lossless files" is the best policy for a research and library facility? It would seem to be best if the Internet Archives placed the best available version of all their materials online and updated or improved the file if a "better" version became available. My library does not hide a historic book if it has a dog-eared page.
This brings to mind the decision that was made during the creation of the Bob and Ray For the...
Please remove these as I did not give uploader the permission to share them here thanks:
Not that I know of. I can however convert it to FLAC format. Of course it wouldn't be the greatest quality, seeing as it's being converted from a lesser quality, but it sounds great to me lol.
I could also download in WAV format, but that depends on the quality of audio being downloaded as well. Not to mention, I've already cut one of the shows into tracks...
The Live Music Archive is for *lossless* audio sources so rips from Youtube videos are not generally accepted for upload.
If the FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files (or ALAC - Apple's version) are uploaded, the Archive will create the various lossy formats (mp3, ogg) from the FLAC files. There is no need to upload them.
320kbps mp3 is a lossy source and certainly not too much quality. In fact, it is too little to be considered lossless. Is it possible that someone has the original...
Where to start... okay. I received permission from Great American Taxi to download a few sets of their material from YouTube, 'chop it up' into tracks and upload it to Archive.
I've finished cutting one set and I'm trying to wrap my head around how to upload the audio files to Live Music Archive. I'm having a blast doing it too, so I'm planning on uploading more from various artists with their approval.
My question is... what format is preferred for uploading? I always see formats ranging...
This guy was the main glue of the band. An enormous loss.
And man, could he ever play:

Hello... could one of the GD-Admins at LMA please reclassify a recent Jon Pasternak upload:
This was classified into "The Dead" band pages, whereas it obviously belongs in the Grateful Dead section.
It is comical that I needed to exit BETA and go to "Most recent posts" to find the forum posting that tries to help me Upload.
I did finally get one of the new files to stay with the old page using the same method I have used in the past. During the process my revised text disappeared and the first file uploaded went away.
Does this BETA really have advantages?
i am not an engineer so there is only so deep my explanations can go. while i don't discount the transition pains i can say that, as far as i know, in this case there is no beta vs classic issues related to uploading. both versions of the site use the same uploaders. if uploading failed the issue was something else.
what makes helping difficult is when i can't duplicate the problem so can't try to solve it or escalate it to an engineer. i just successfully upload and item and added a file to...
Despite your current experience, you are able to add files to an existing upload. I can't give you a technical explanation why you are getting a server I/O error when you try to do so. It is not because it is not allowed. Something else is interfering with the upload.
If I had access to the WAV file, I would try to upload on your behalf. If you want to try to send it to me via dropbox or wetransfer or whatever other file transfer service you want to use, I will attempt to upload it to see if...
I will not list all my credentials but will say I've used computers since before you could purchase them. I was a guy who could code in Hexi and was happy when VI arrived. Machines and I get along well. If I have this much trouble then something is wrong.
You are not the problem Jeff, you are just the only account at IA that ever responds helpfully so of course things will seem directed toward you.
Uploading to the page failed every time and each of us tried at least three times. No...
alternate way to upload to an existing item:
1. go to archive.org/upload?identifier=BnR129090673 then hit your return key
2. drag your file into the graybox
3. click the "Add files to existing item" button

In the land of sequoias there is a giant thats seldom heard from. October 20, 1989. California Earthquake #1, final/last "Other One Jam": 08-13-75 , Transcendent Scarlet -> Fire. Bear was in the house & Phil is in an element all to his own. Signature Phil Lesh show.
Can you give me a hint to what error I'm making in my uploading?.
I'm the admin of a collection. I'm trying to add a more complete version of a show to an existing file. The file is under 600,000 kb.
When I log on to that page while logged in as the collection admin and click "Edit Item" - then click - "Change the files" I have two options.
1. Classic Uploader which gives a "BnR129Full090673.wav Server (IO) Error"
"all artists · this day in history · average review rating · number reviews · date reviewed · number views"
Looks like you changed your mind. What possible purpose could "number reviews" serve? Or "Date Reviewed"?
I like "all artists" but I still think that this should be the default view for etree, period. It shows the biggest view of what is there. (Alternatively, the "About " tab is really a better jumping off point. Ask your friends...
in response to some forum, email and exit-beta feedback i'm doing what i can to be responsive.
so, you'll now notice at the top of the collection page three browse links just under "Live Music Archive",
all artists · this just in · this day in history · date reviewed · number views
hopefully you'll find these useful.

It would be great if the people in charge of the new site would come to taperssection.com and address the bulk of contributors to Archive's etree library directly. Create an account, and go to Taperchat. I have started a thread where it would be appropriate to publicly defend your changes and get some positive and negative feedback. TS.com is comprised of some of the smartest people in the world, much like I'm sure Archive.org is.

Can you remove the collection
It is a duplicate show and I made the mistake. I now know to wait a few hours after an upload so the the registration tasks may complete. I am a systems administrator and am learning the posting process.
You are doing the correct thing. As long as you use the "Live Music Archive" button and choose Jave Men under etree collections, it is in the correct place and you will not need us to move it. It may take a few hours to appear under the actual Java Men collection, but rest assured it is in the correct place.
I'll remove the lossy version of the one you just uploaded and just let us know when the second one is done and I'll remove that one too. Thanks!
Thank you for your help Vanark.
This new flac should be stored on the band's live archive page: https://archive.org/details/JM2015-01-20.JM2015-01-20_JavaMen_Live_LouisvilleKY_AtTheNewVintage
This mp3 version should be removed. https://archive.org/details/Javamen_1_20_15
When I upload more should I post in the forum to have them linked under the band Java Men's main page?
Their main page is https://archive.org/details/JavaMen
I did choose their link in the last step of the etree upload but...
One other issue - the Live Music Archive is for *lossless* files. Both these uploads are lossy mp3's. Do you have the original lossless WAV files you could convert to FLAC instead of mp3 and upload those? I'm not going to move these for now and hope you have the lossless files still.
I will move them shortly.
The shows were uploaded to Community Audio. When you upload, you must select the button labeled "Live Music Archive". If you don't get this button when you first hit the Upload button, click the Upload button a second time and you should get the proper screen. It should look like this:
Help please. I read and followed procedures for uploading concerts to the liveMusicArchive (etree) but the shows are not appearing with the band. The band's page is
and my uploads are
How may one associate uploads with a band post upload?
You may have noted that not one request by Archive collection administrators to justify the new format has been answered. There has been no email or forum response other than the"you will like it someday" boilerplate.
Two of the co-contributors to our collection have pulled up stakes due to this "upgrade", leaving me to carry our small OTR collection. Loss of functionality for our users and our inability to fix it has been the main complaint.I am hoping to find alternative.
I think the new format is pretty good, but the default views just completely suck. Really. A new user gets treated to the view of 4 jambands "above the fold". "Grateful Dead". "Phil Lesh and Friends"."Disco Biscuits". "String Cheese Incident". I love at least 3 of these bands, but that's not the point. The new users, and everyone, should see, is the list of bands. Period, end of story. Then, when you click on a band, the default view should be...
The URL has been updated to reflect the correct date.
If you want to change the names of the files, you can use the "edit files" function on the show and change the names. You only need to update the .flac files, the .ffp and the .md5. The other files will be deleted and recreated with the correct name once they are rederived.
Hope that helps.
I either need this show removed from LMA to re-upload with the correct date or the date needs to be changed to 2015-05-29.
